Stubben Saddles
Biomex Seat-Many riders (studies say over half) suffer from back pain, especially after they ride. When riding on a horse, the force exerted on the spine flows mainly through the seat bones. Pressure on these seat bones and the extremely sensitive soft tissues around them can cause pain. The Stubben Biomex* cushions the seat bones with two kidney-shaped pads, which absorb impact and relieve spinal stress. In addition, the depression between the kidney-shaped pads also plays a crucial role, as it substantially lessens any possible pressure on the soft tissues surrounding the seat bones (see the oval areas on the diagrams below). In scientific comparisons with conventional saddles, seat pressure measurements at various gaits show that the Stubben Biomex* provides much greater relief in the seat bone area and the surrounding soft tissues.
Key to Stubben Flap Styles
S-Typically a jumping saddle flap. The Stubben Roxanne S Deluxe and Stubben Roxanne S both feature the S flap.
VSS-All purpose, emphasis toward jumping, cross country and riding in short stirrup leathers. The Roxanne is also available with this flap, as well as the Sigfried.
VSD-All purpose, emphasis toward dressage, pleasure riding, endurance and riding in long stirrup leathers. The Sigfried is also available in this flap style.
D-Dressage. Stubben has many dressage saddles available, but our most popular is the Maestoso, which comes with the Biomex seat or without.
What do all those other letters in the title mean?
Stubben often identifies their saddle with a name, such as the "Roxanne" or "Maestoso" followed by a list of letters that identify other characteristics about the saddle. Typically you will see the flap style (shown above) listed after a Stubben saddles name, but you may also see:
CS-Half deep, slightly wider seat, square cantle, forward flap, front block. Rear block is optional
II-Flat seat, square cantle, forward flap, front and/or rear block options.
NT (New Technology)-Short tree points, narrow twist, wider seat in back, close contact panels
DL-High wide knee roll on dressage and VSD type saddles to give better support
HP-Long knee roll on dressage saddles, highest point lower down on the panel for the average to longer legged rider.
GX-Saddle flap molded over a high knee roll on the panel (VSD saddles only)
CL-Blocks or knee rolls inserted into onr placed on the top flap.
Stubben Saddle Leather
Embossed Cowhide Leather
Deluxe Leather-The Deluxe leather is a doubled leather that is textured and ultra soft.
Stubben Bits
Golden Wing Bits-The Stubben Golden Wing bits are gentle, sensitive and 100% pinchless with no nutcracker effect. The revolutionary safeguard plates offer maximum protection to the delicate corners of the horse's mouth while perfectly positioning the bit. The safeguard plates adapt exactly to the anatomy of the horse's mouth, and remain in a comfortable position at all times. In addition, they provide lateral stability to prevent the bit rings from being pulled through the horse's mouth. The Golden Wing bit is available in three options: Oval Mouth, Oval Mouth Gag, Gag Snaffle.
EZ Control-The EZ Control bit features Rigid Effect, which provides flexibility on the sides of the bit. It allows for minimum pressure on the reins for a gentle, sensitive touch and easier communication. The EZ Control bit can not bend backwards, which means that pressure is distributed equally an the bars of the mouth. The Stubben EZ Control is available in a Three Ring Gag, Loose Ring, or D-Ring.
